Looking for an on-going way to volunteer and help with the “behind the scenes” work of Girls on the Run?  Consider joining a committee!

Programming  Committee

The Programming Committee’s main role is to assist with bringing our program to schools and other sites in the community. This committee will work on ways to present the program to schools, identify appropriate contacts at each school, and ensure our sites are ready to go each season.

Fundraising Committee

The Fundraising Committee’s main role is to assist the Council Director in all fundraising efforts of Girls on the Run.  The Fundraising Committee will work closely with the Finance Committee and the 5K Planning Committee.

Specific tasks of the Fundraising Committee:

  • Developing a strategic fundraising plan with the Council Director
  • Building relationships with funders (grant makers, businesses) in the community
  • Developing and implementing an annual direct mail campaign
  • Recognizing and thanking ALL donors
  • Assisting board members in reaching their fundraising goals
  • Identifying, researching, writing and submitting grant proposals

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee’s main role is to review and provide guidance to Girls on the Run’s financial matters.

Specific tasks of the Finance Committee:

  • Developing and submit the annual budget
  • Overseeing overall revenue and expenses
  • Presenting finances to the board in a clear and concise manner
  • Reviewing all financial activity and reporting on financial activity to the board
  • Regularly reviewing the organization’s revenues and expenditures, balance sheet, investments and other matters related to its continued solvency
  • Ensuring the preparation of an annual audit, tax form (990), and audited Financial Statements

Marketing/PR Committee

The Marketing Committee’s main role is to guide the marketing efforts of Girls on the Run of Hamilton County, including (but not limited to) updating the website, sending out the monthly e-newsletter, updating our social media, coordinating our presence at running expos, developing marketing materials, etc.

Specific tasks of the Marketing Committee:

  • Regularly updating the Girls on the Run of Hamilton County website
  • Regularly updating our Facebook page
  • Developing (or overseeing the development of) marketing materials such as postcards, flyers, videos
  • Coordinating our presence at local running expos or other relevant expos/conferences
  • Developing and implementing creative ways for our presence to be known in the community

5K Planning Committee

The 5K Planning Committee’s main role is to coordinate the efforts of putting on the New Balance Series 5K each season.

Specific tasks of the 5K Planning Committee:

  • Sign up for the New Balance Series each season with Girls on the Run International
  • Work with the Fundraising Committee to secure sponsors
  • Work with the Marketing Committee to market the 5K in the community
  • Recruit and train volunteers for the event, including running buddies, water station volunteers, registration volunteers, etc.
  • Coordinate registration for the race
  • Secure space and coordinate all the necessary permits, trash disposal, police presence, etc.
